Young Champions Heart Screening Clinics
In partnership with Peace Health Southwest Medical Center Heart and Vascular Center we have established the "Young Champions Heart Screening Clinics". The Young Champions Heart Screening Clinics are made possible through charitable donations from the Quinn Driscoll Foundation, Peace Health Southwest Medical Center Heart and Vascular Center, local cardiologists from Cascade Heart, PS, and The Vancouver Clinic-Cardiology, nurses from Peace Health Southwest Medical Center, Washington State University College of Nursing and Clark College Nursing Program, medical technicians, medical device representatives and countless community volunteers.
Who is eligible?
Any Clark County middle or high school athlete, band member or cheerleader from 12 – 18 years old is eligible for a Young Champions Heart Screening Clinic. Although designed for the student athlete, this screening event also accommodates all children in the age group who may be at risk (family history).
For those living outside the Clark County Washington area, please send a request for screening to email@example.com.
Young Champions Heart Screening Clinics are an important service to the community providing access to cardiac screenings for our most valuable assets, our children. The Quinn Driscoll Foundation is dedicated to promote cardiac health in all ages, starting with our youth and raising awareness for the entire family.
This screening does not take the place of the pre-performance examination requirement for all student athletes who wish to participate in a school sport.
What is included in the screening?
- Review of child's personal and family health history
- Detailed questionnaire
- Blood pressure
- ECG/EKG (electrocardiogram)
- Abbreviated echocardiogram
How do I sign up my child?
Registration is required. To schedule a student heart screening, call 360.514.1707. On-line registration will be open in the weeks prior to the next scheduled clinic.
How much does it cost?
The Quinn Driscoll Foundation asks for a donation of $25 per child to off-set costs of conducting a Young Champions Heart Screen. No child will be turned away for a family's ability to provide a donation in-kind.
